A Dreamy Unicorn Birthday Party Photoshoot in Lane Cove, Sydney
When Alex contacted me last minute, I knew something special was coming. She had booked Adorable Pony Parties to surprise her daughter Avery on her 4th birthday — and wanted me to quietly capture the magic. Avery adores unicorns, and Crunch (yes, that’s his name!) is her absolute favourite.
We met in Lane Cove, Sydney, for this sweet little birthday party. Avery had no idea a unicorn was coming. Her reaction when she spotted Crunch walking up the driveway? Pure magic. No staged photos, no poses — just real, joyful, heart-bursting moments.
Candid Unicorn Photoshoot Moments in Sydney
This wasn’t a usual birthday photoshoot standing in front of a backdrop.
I was more like a friendly paparazzi, quietly snapping away while Avery brushed Crunch, gave him carrots, dressed him up, and led him around like a pro. Avery's twin brothers also joined the fun!
Lighting wasn’t always ideal — it never is when you’re chasing a pony in someone's backyard! — but we got so lucky. The candid moments we captured were absolutely worth it.
Why I Love Unicorn Birthday Photoshoots in Sydney
As a Sydney family photographer who's passion is taking photos with animals, these kinds of sessions are truly my favourite. Whether it’s a birthday photoshoot with a unicorn in the Northern Beaches, a family session with a horse in the Hills District, or a private pony visit in Lane Cove — they’re always filled with such a positive energy.
I’ve worked with Adorable Pony Parties a few times now, and honestly, I jump at every chance to join them. Hannah is amazing with the kids, and her ponies (oops — I mean unicorns!) are total professionals. These photoshoots always fill my heart.
