Extended Family Photoshoot with Horses in Sydney


Extended family photoshoots are not something I offer, but when horses are involved, I make an exception. This particular session was incredibly special, as it brought together multiple generations, meaningful relationships, and two very important horses who are part of my own team too.


Photographing extended families with horses requires experience, patience, and a calm approach — and this session had all of that, plus a lot of heart.

Extended family sessions are about more than just photos. They’re about connection — grandparents, parents, children, and the animals that are part of everyday life.


Adding horses into an extended family photoshoot creates a deeper story. Horses are often central to family routines, values, and memories, and capturing that bond makes the images even more meaningful.


As a Sydney family photographer who works with horses, I approach these sessions slowly and intentionally, making sure everyone — humans and horses — feels comfortable.

A Calm and Natural Extended Family Photography Experience


This session was designed to feel relaxed rather than rushed. We focused on:

Full extended family portraits

Smaller family groupings

Individual connections between people and horses

Natural interactions rather and some posing too


Because horses were involved, the session flowed at their pace. This allowed for genuine moments and beautiful, natural expressions across all generations.

Photographing Families with Horses in Sydney and Surrounding Areas


While this extended family photoshoot didn’t take place in central Sydney, the approach and style are exactly what I offer across Sydney, the Hills District, and surrounding NSW areas.


Locations with open space, paddocks, or private properties are ideal for extended family photography with horses. These environments allow everyone to spread out, relax, and enjoy the experience — which always shows in the final images.

Why I Occasionally Photograph Extended Families


Extended family photoshoots are not part of my regular offerings, simply because they require more planning, space, and time. However, when horses are involved — especially horses I know and work with — these sessions become something truly special.


They allow me to combine my experience in family photography, equine photography, and working with children into one meaningful session.
