Freshwater Northern Beaches Session with a Family Photographer
Returning clients are the best! This lovely family of four booked their Freshwater family photography session for the second year in a row—at the very same beautiful spot. This time, we kicked things off in the park before heading down to the beach, snapping loads of fun moments along the way with some posed snapshots too. The reason for this family photoshoot in Sydney was extra special: not only had another year flown by, but Grandma was visiting! Having some lovely photos of the kids with their grandma was a big reason for booking the session again, and as a Northern Beaches family photographer, I love capturing these moments.
Familiarity Matters during a Freshwater Family Photography
One of the best things about seeing families for a second family photoshoot in Sydney is that the kids already know me! Just a little warm-up needed and they’re usually comfortable, excited, and ready to have fun. This was definitely the case with these two sweet sisters during their Freshwater family photography session. Right from the start, they were in their element, running around the palm trees, giving Grandma the biggest hugs, and showering her with kisses. It didn’t feel like a photoshoot—it felt like a fun family afternoon, and as a Northern Beaches family photographer, that’s exactly what I love to capture.
A little bonus? This family also speaks Czech, one of my languages! So in between snapping photos, I got to brush up on my Czech while we chatted. We ran after seagulls, splashed in the water, and even did a bit of rock climbing (keeping it safe). By the end of the session, everyone was sandy, happy, and tired — just the way a family photoshoot in Sydney should be!
The Magic of a Northern Beaches Family Photographer
By the time we wrapped up our Freshwater family photography session, it felt less like work and more like spending time with old friends. The girls were completely at ease—playing, laughing, and making the most of every moment with their grandma. It’s always such a joy to see kids having fun during a family photoshoot in Sydney, but of course, we also made time for those must-have shots—everyone together, eyes visible, the kind of photos Grandma will proudly display on the shelf. After all, a mix of playful and classic moments makes for the perfect gallery!
On top of that, I got to practice my Czech! It’s not every day I get to chat in one of my native languages during a session, and it made the experience even more special. That’s what I love most about being a Northern Beaches family photographer—every session is different, full of personality, and a chance to create something meaningful.
